A group of girls that have become close through something that most people wouldn’t expect us to do. We all run and that brought us together, it made us all part of one and other. Our JV girls cross-country team has been working hard this year bringing home medals and plaques. The coaches that support our team, are one of the most important things on the team. Our head girls coach Ivan Huff, has been running since a young age and he has been paso coach for along period of time. Another couch such as our head boys coach Jho-Paul Ewing he had run for Paso Robles High when he was in high school. Jessica Hoyt, Anthony Overton, and Jory Halland our assistant coaches run with the team and helps and motivates and supports us through everything.
Coach Ivan Huff tells us at least one time a day,“You can make excuses or you can make it happen.” Cross Country becomes a lifestyle we work hard and have fun. They have been in the top ten as a team all season. We came in second in PAC 8 Mid Season meet on Thursday October 12, 2017. Also we received first place at Santa Margarita, better known as the wall. We had our girls come in close taking 2nd 5th and 8th as a top ten runners for the whole race.
According to Emily Machine, “If you came to the meets you would see that the team is more than a group of kids it’s a family and united group. You would see a group of people who care and help each other. We get what we have to get done and still have fun.” We had a Cross Country runner Annie Meeder, that all our girls look up to now and want to become. The team will continue to improve over the years and work harder and harder become the top of the top. So running is more than just going fast in a certain direction it’s a lifestyle.
