Varsity Cross Country is a fun and competitive sport where runners are asked by the coaches to give it their all, at all times.
The teams are divided by gender and by varsity and JV teams. Both teams have seven runners each and there is no order of importance. Competition is what drives them to be better runners.
The team has a quote that they say to one another and it is “you can make excuses or you can make it happen¨. This story matters because it relates to everyone. The more you put into something, the more you get out of it. You don’t have to be an athlete to get that. The teams are always looking for runners who have this attitude.
Coach Ewing said ,¨So far, our boys team has been very successful the past few years and this boys team is a good, solid team. We’re probably not as good as last year, but we are getting better and better. The girls team is a betters girls team than we had last year¨.
The other coach, former Olympic runner Coach Huff has this to say. ¨So far our boys team we’ve been very successful the past few years and this boys team is a good solid team….The girls team is a better girls team than we had last year¨.
In my opinion both coaches are optimistic about their 2017 cross country varsity teams.
If you were a runner you would feel many things, you would feel your heart beat really fast before a race, you would race and meet and make new friends. The cross country team has had a lot of success in the past few years, winning in the mid state meets for the past 4 years. The next step for these great runners is try to get to State Championships, by doing this they will continue the Paso Robles winning streak in cross country.
Both coaches think with hard work and determination the varsity teams of 2017 will bring another successful championship to Paso.
