BLOCK 10/19-20/16: PRHS Program Stories!, Orphan Train Preview & Interviews

Today’s BIG QUESTIONS:

What qualities and characteristics of yours ?
How can we use the skills and knowledge from others to improve our own rough drafts?
How can you use photography to enhance your storytelling?

Activities:

1. PRHS Program Stories on track!

  1. R3 due Friday with interviewee head shot and club action shot

2. Orphan Train 

  1. Interviews: What do you want to know?
    1. Regarding PRHS Play: Possible questions
    2. Develop at least 5 questions you want to know about the Orphan Train play. Label your questions either HISTORICAL or DRAMA.
    3. Interview Media from 3rd Period 2016-10-19

3. Orphan Train Feature Story

  1. Using information from your interviews, write a 200-word insight into the cast or crew member you interviewed. Submit it to Google Classroom by Friday, 10/21/2016.
    1. Be sure to include the following in your Google Doc:
      1-Give the Doc a name following this format: “Orphan Train – [cast or crew name] by [your name]” – no brackets or quotation marks
      2-Use a brief hook
      3-Introduce the cast or crew member using first and last name and class (freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior)
      4-Explain the cast or crew member’s participation and experience
      5-Use quotes from the interview to share the cast or crew member’s unique thoughts, feelings, impressions, and experiences regarding the Orphan Train play
      6-You can use facts about the play and (sparingly) about the historical orphan trains to enhance your story
      7-You will need a head shot of the cast or crew member. Make sure someone is taking photographs and gets a photo of your interviewee. A nice smartphone pic will do in a pinch, so you might shoot one when possible.

4. Poster Design

  1. Complete the 4x Poster Design sketches on paper
  2. Mini conference with Mount/Rucker for feedback and to choose the best concept
  3. Move into Photoshop with an 11 x 17 at 150 dpi
  4. Upload .PSD and .jpg to gClassroom
